Buenos Aires Police Officer Suspended for Social Media Posts

Buenos Aires, November 20 (NA) -- The leadership of the City Police placed an officer on leave for showing "indecorous" behavior on her social networks and requested the intervention of the Internal Affairs department. Therefore, the young officer will be removed from her duties, at least temporarily, and according to Noticias Argentinas agency, her situation will be defined in the coming weeks, although she will most likely be dismissed. Officer Nicole Gabriela V., who had been with the City Police for three years, was on medical leave; however, in recent days, at least four videos she posted on the Instagram social network with another woman went viral, although the latter was not identified as a member of the institution. The images "show two women playing pool, wearing the uniform of this Institution, without any insignia to identify them, inviting whoever sees them to comment and do whatever they ask, with a notable suggestive attitude, making improper use of the clothing and police equipment assigned to them," states the force's communiqué, which was accessed by Noticias Argentinas agency. Likewise, the note specifies that "This irregular and indecorous conduct of the aforementioned officer significantly affects the prestige of the institution to which she belongs and, far from attacking freedom of expression, it is, on the contrary, aimed at preserving public order and tranquility, as well as the guiding principles of Public Security management enshrined in Law 5688".
